I'm a research software engineer at ETH Zurich, where I develop reproducible workflows for metagenomic datasets.
I hold a doctorate in Genome Science from the University of Göttingen.
My thesis focused on the use of genome skimming for phylogenomics. As part of this work, I developed Patchwork, a tool for extracting phylogenetic markers from genomic data, and used it to reconstruct the largest phylogeny of the annelid family Nereididae based on molecular data.
My background spans animal evolution and cardiovascular disease, and I currently work in microbiome research.
