Impact

Suricata's FTP parser returned a fatal app-layer error when a client sent RETR or STOR before a PORT/PASV data channel was negotiated. The error disables application-layer detection for the rest of the TCP flow, so later FTP commands on that flow may be missed by FTP parser-dependent rules and logging.

IPS mode drops the flow (fail-close).

Patches

Upgrade to Suricata 8.0.6.
