It may have been illegal to delete your contact information before, but it is legal to refuse to add your new contact information now. This is not the same information. |
|
It's also a gross misunderstanding of what personal data is. The packages you previously maintained are not yours. While your changes are copyrighted to you, they were freely licensed under the MIT, and after you expressed your wishes to avoid adding a GitHub account to your maintainer information, the packages ceased to be officially maintained by you per your non-compliance with the recently-implemented data requirements. |

In Nixpkgs, we collect maintainer information in a structured way in |
These packages have been damaged by removing a way to contact the maintainer.
This PR fixes it for both legal and practical reasons.
In some jurisdictions like the EU, availability of personal data has to be ensured, and removing the maintainer entry effectively made the maintainer contact unavailable where it is required. Furthermore, removing it hurts users of the affected packages, because it makes it hard for them to contact someone who is familiar with the packages when issues arise.
Re-adding the necessary information to the affected packages solves these issues.
