I’m an energy systems modeller and data practitioner with a strong focus on building high-quality, open infrastructure datasets for power system analysis. My work sits at the intersection of geospatial data, electricity networks, and computational modelling—primarily using tools like PyPSA, Python, and OpenStreetMap (OSM).
🔌 What I Do
* Energy Systems Modelling:
I develop and refine power system models, with a focus on transmission networks, demand representation, and scenario analysis using frameworks like PyPSA.
* OpenStreetMap Grid Mapping:
I actively contribute to improving the quality and coverage of power infrastructure data in OpenStreetMap. This includes:
* Mapping transmission lines, substations, and related assets
* Cleaning and validating raw OSM data for modelling use
* Building workflows to integrate OSM data into energy system models
* Data Engineering & Processing:
I design pipelines to transform raw geospatial and tabular data into structured inputs for modelling—handling everything from API ingestion (e.g. Overpass) to preprocessing and validation.
🌍 Current Focus
* Expanding and improving public transmission network datasets for underrepresented regions
* Bridging the gap between open geospatial data and energy system modelling
* Supporting the transition to sustainable and renewable energy systems through better data
