Namespace URI Structure

A new namespace URI structure was proposed during the ISO TC211 Meeting during fall 2015. That structure includes:

  1. a base URL: http://iso.standards.org/iso

  2. the Standard number (1.e. 19115)

  3. the standard part number (i.e. -2)

  4. the standard namespace prefix (i.e. mdb)

  5. the namespace version number (i.e. 1.0)

  6. an optional date for a working version of the namespace (i.e. 2014-07-11), if the standard is in development.

Thus, a complete namespace URI for the mdb namespace is http://standards.iso.org/iso/19115/-3/mdb/1.0/yyyy-mm-dd while the namespace is being developed, and http://standards.iso.org/iso/19115/-3/mdb/1.0 once version 1.0 of the namespace is finalized.
