not sure what this is about, i'm on wayshot 1.4.6, using wl-clipboard

interestingly it seems to be based on filesize? if i make the screen all black it does it no problem every time

It turns out I think this is a wl-clipboard-rs issue not a wayshot issue, but I'll test master tomorrow, not at my pc right now sorry should've checked.

confirmed happening on master, definitely a wl-clipboard-rs issue, happens with it, their problem, but this does make me wish this didn't override the clipboard app

workaround for anybody else on nixos facing this, caution, generated by AI, but tested and seems to work, and I read through it and didn't see anyhting wrong with it

You can use wayshot - | wl-copy in a meanwhile as a workaround if you're using master branch build

Tbh I think wayshot should not make wl-clipboard-rs mandatory and should use the system copy command, this should also be overrideable in settings

This is just an option, you can always use the pipe operation to use other clipboard

You can use wl-copy by piping the stdout to it as of now and can compile wayshot without clipboard support (e.g. cargo build --no-default-features --features logger,notifications) as well, so IMO there's nothing more we should do here.

I have to do something like this absurd mess to make it both save a file and to the clipboard otherwise, can't it just use the system clipboard like most things that copy to clipboard and leave it up to the user?

I can't understand it either, but maybe you can simplify your script by using new hyprland dispatchers, introduced in 0.55, lua scripting in config and permissions system

hyprctl -r keyword windowrule no_screen_share X things are just for disabling it not being able to see certain apps

awk exists to make it so that this shuts off immediately and the other things still happen regardless of if it succeeded or failed, while still passing stdout along, tee is then used to send the file to a stable place and a place that gets cleared out every reboot, and then wl-copy

all of this combined gets simplified to

if I just piped to wl-copy, I wouldn't be able to make it make a sound, and I also wouldn't be able to make it NOT make a sound if I cancel or it doesn't work, also there are further usecases like OCR that complicate the matter further
