Feature request: Add option to explicitly set GPIO values high or low

Would it be possible to add the option to set GPIO pin values explicitly to high/low (or 0/1) as an alternative to the active/inactive values which can change meaning depending how the pin configuration was originally defined?

Just thought that it might make code easier to understand in some circumstances.

Active/inactive do NOT change their meaning - they are the logical states of the line, as represented by line::Value. How that maps to physical state depends on the active-low state of the line.
The mapping is there for the reverse of your situation - where users may or may not have active-low set, depending on their electrical configuration, but are only interested in the logical state of the line and don't want to have to consider the active-low state.

The problem with directly supporting setting either physical or logical line values is that can be confusing as now both are in play.
Only supporting the logical states of lines is quite intentional - to ensure users understand the difference and that they are not necessarily getting the physical state.

Note that controlling the mapping between logical and physical is generally all the active-low setting does. For push-pull lines it does not impact the electrical configuration so if you aren't using open-drain and you only want physical values then just don't set active-low.

The corner case we are considering here is where the user may have set active-low and yet only wants to be deal with the physical state of the line. This seems contradictory. So which circumstances?
