I'm a software engineer, and in my spare time I build and maintain open-source
projects — the kind of small, useful things that get written once and then
quietly need attention forever: bug fixes, dependency bumps, issues answered,
the occasional new feature.

None of this is my day job. It happens in evenings and weekends, for the simple
reason that I find it worth doing and I like that other people get use out of it.

keep going. A lot of open-source maintenance is invisible work — the stuff that
