Volume keys steal keyboard focus from the active app

when i press the volume up and volume down keys on my keyboard the volume changes as expected but then the windows focus gets stolen by this app and i have to click back into the app that i was using to continue typing.

Steps to reproduce

1. open text edit and start typing a document
2. hit the volume key on the keyboard (up or down, it doesn't matter)
3. try to keep typing in text edit - it doesn't work! the focus is now on the BetterAudio app and i have to click back into text edit to continue typing.
