We want the otwarchive repository to be a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable participating. This Code of Conduct sets expectations for behavior for all community members (whether they are OTW volunteers, contractors, or external contributors) and applies to all public and project spaces, including (but not limited to) the otwarchive wiki, Jira, and pull requests.
- Be friendly, respectful, and constructive in all communication.
- Be gracious when giving or receiving constructive feedback. Recognize that all community members have knowledge to share and learn.
- Take responsibility for individual actions, acknowledge each person’s contributions, and work to repair harm when it occurs.
- Contributors may give feedback about code quality, including comments regarding violations of our Coding Standards or Commit Policy. Comments regarding other policies, including violations of the Contributing Guidelines, are handled by OTW volunteers.
- If a pull request or issue appears abandoned, as defined in our stalled issues documentation, contributors who wish to pick it up are encouraged to contact otw-coders@transformativeworks.org. Contributors should not leave comments requesting adoption. An OTW volunteer will follow up as appropriate.
- When discussing policies or future plans, or clarifying issue details, contributors should identify that they are not OTW volunteers or contractors and that coders may wish to wait for verification before proceeding. We also ask that contributors identify that they are not an OTW volunteer when speaking about their work in other public spaces.
The following behavior will not be tolerated on project spaces or towards other community members, as defined above, on any platform:
- Harassment in any form. Harassment is any unwelcome or repeated behavior that offends, humiliates, intimidates, or threatens another person.
- Actual or threatened violence.
- Sharing someone's personally identifying information ("doxxing") or private content (including communications sent privately), or otherwise linking identities without explicit permission. Discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, caste, national origin, age, ability, gender identity, marital status, familial status, parental status, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, political beliefs, status within fannish contexts, or role within the OTW itself.
This Code of Conduct is not an all-encompassing list of every circumstance, and disagreements can still happen and be resolved constructively within it. When appropriate, we encourage people to attempt to resolve differences with other individuals directly first, with respect and recognition of other community members' valuable perspectives.
If there is behavior you believe violates this Code of Conduct, email the AO3 development team leads at adt-chair@transformativeworks.org. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated and responded to as promptly as possible and as appropriate for the circumstances.
Note: The Archive of Our Own (AO3) is not considered to be a project space, and conduct there is governed by its Terms of Service. Potential violations thereof must be reported via the Policy & Abuse contact form.
Violations of any part of this Code of Conduct, including our policy on AI usage, may result in corrective action, up to and including being banned from the GitHub repository and Jira.
