If BSH had asked me, there would always be a cutout next to the GND trace, because every connector should have some kind of GND or reference level. But they didn't ask me, of course! ;-) Otherwise, all I can say is that the labeling on the COM1 module is correct, as also can be seen here. Besides that, BSH has likely used every possible RAST connector configuration over the years. It was recently shown that there are even connectors with the cutout on the side, which I hadn't seen before either. Since BSH probably buys these connectors by the millions, manufacturers are likely more than happy to provide them with customized models. Conclusion: No conclusion — it’s all confusing! :-) |

There are a lot of uncertainties about the RAST 2.5 connectors and their features.
In my BSH-Board I keep the 3-pin RAST 2.5 connector in place by limiting the width of the cutout the connector fits in to a little over 10mm, I also added a keying slot between pin 1 and 2 because I saw that on pictures @hn posted of a COM1 board
Up until now I orderd these connectors from Mouse:
They offer the connectors with several so called "position keys" (blue) and and a so called "polarizing rib" (red)

Whats a bit confusing is the fact that on The COM1 board the "polarizing rib" is between + and Data and the wire exit the connector to the bottom and the position keys seem to be at the bottom as well. But from the pictures of the connectors on the Molex website, the polarizing rib seems to be always on the right hand side.
@hn can you clarify the exact situation on the COM1 board?
