Maven build for release tags fail with error finding artifact- org.eclipse.mylyn:org.eclipse.mylyn.target:target:4.6.0-SNAPSHOT

Hi,

I am able to build and install wikitext.core artifacts on the main code line with
mvn clean install -B -Dmaven.test.skip -Dmaven.test.failure.ignore=true -Dmaven.test.error.ignore=true -Ddash.fail=false

However when I checkout a release tag like 4.6.0 (R_4_6_0) or 4.5.0 (R_4_5_0) and try a maven build the same fails with an error

Are there any pre-steps before building a release tab/branch?
Or any other params that need to be added or removing while building?

Please try to build from the repository root, I don't think that we support build from an arbitrary directory

The build work on main but not on release tag.

When we build we always use the latest Integration build in the *.target File so we have the Problem that we use 4.35 20250208-0140 Integration build for our final release. But all Integration builds are delete after a final Eclipse release.

Any suggestions?

Personally, I am not sure what is the right way forward as I do not completely understand the dependencies and intricacies.
Others here may definitely have suggestions/advise.

But I think that there should be a way to be able to build the release locally so that the required artifacts could be generated and consumed by consumers of the repo.

Thinking aloud, but would it work if we updated the release tag file to refer to the latest build artifact or more changes would be needed?
Or somehow remove that dependency if possible on/for releases (Not sure)?

Replacing the repo location with the one from main branch worked on 4.6.0 (R_4_6_0) and I could build mylyn.docs without error. Not sure how feasible that would be any other release.

I'm on vacation and can't test what we can do to fix this issue. But if I remember correctly, we have other repositories like egit with specific versions like -rc1

While we are at it another (naive) question.
How to do a release build (for e.g. 4.6.0) as the default build generates artifacts with qualifier (snapshot)?

I tried
mvn org.eclipse.tycho:tycho-versions-plugin:set-version -DnewVersion="4.6.0"
from repo root, followed by
mvn clean install -B -Dmaven.test.skip -Dmaven.test.failure.ignore=true -Dmaven.test.error.ignore=true -Ddash.fail=false -Dbuild.type=release

But that messes up the poms/manifests and build fails with some references still pointing to 4.6.0-snapshot.

So wanted to know what is the right way to go with a release build.
