Motivation/Background

• The APIs that my app depend on are not that reliable and frequently have downtime
• I want to make it clear that any performance issues that are caused by the shaky APIs are not my fault
• With some sort of API connectivity checker on the homepage the user will know what kind of functionality to expect given the status report
