How do I set up a SMS Provider Integeration with Bandwidth's API in Yetiforce 6.4?

I'm making this here because the YetiforceCRM has been set to archive mode and I can't make a new discussion on there

Hey everyone. I'm new to Yetiforce and while I think it's a great product, I'm lost on what to do. Currently I am working on a SMS system with Bandwidth's API so we can send and receive SMS messages to and from clients, but I can't figure out how to do this. Yetiforce's documentation is pretty sparse and while there is some information about SMS, and any discussions I can dig up about this is very outdated. For instance, I found this discussion on the topic: YetiForceCompany/YetiForceCRM#3277 but it's from a much earlier version of YetiForce and doesn't seem to match up with current or recent versions anymore. Setting up Bandwidth was easy enough, but trying to integrate SMS in Yetiforce is pretty complicated for me and I'm not sure what steps to take. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have no experience with sending and receiving (never finished integration in that regard) but I suppose a custom workflow handler can work for syncing as that's what I use in production, you can check out the following PR for a couple examples:
