Add adaptive binning for calibration

This is related to #521 but more general - not too difficult to do, can be handled with a new keyword argument to calibrate

There is a reference implementation of https://arxiv.org/abs/1903.02050 by the authors at https://github.com/yding5/AdaptiveBinning - this is pretty straightforward
