Hey everyone,
First of all: massive respect for what you’ve achieved with OpenNept4une and the Klipper support for the Neptune 4 – it’s inspiring and super helpful!
I’m a Neptune 3 Pro user, and while I’ve seen many people get Klipper running on the N3/N3 Pro/N3 Plus, it’s often a mess of scattered printer.cfgs, scripts, display drivers, etc. It works – but it’s not easy, especially for non-developers like me.
What I (and I believe many others) would love to see is:
A unified starting point for Neptune 3 users
A Klipper image or Kiauh-based setup that includes Neptune 3 profiles
Model selection during install (e.g. N3 / N3 Pro / N3 Plus)
Pre-tuned configs for speed, input shaping, display support, etc.
Cura / PrusaSlicer profiles aligned with those configs
Unlike the N4, we’d need a Raspberry Pi or other SBC – but that’s fine. With Kiauh it’s totally doable. What’s really missing is the structure – a bundled, clean, reliable setup that makes it easier to get started and encourages more people to join the Klipper community from the Neptune 3 side.
I'm not a developer, so constant tweaks and re-flashing are a bit overwhelming for me. But I believe there are many experienced users out there who could help bring this together and give the 3-series printers the attention they deserve. They're great machines – just forgotten a bit in the Klipper world.
Maybe this could be part of OpenNeptune3D? A kind of “OpenNept3une” spinoff?
Thanks for reading – and thanks again for all the amazing work you’re doing 🙏
All the best,
A hopeful Neptune 3 Pro user who's just looking for a smooth start into Klipper life
