SLSim: Strong Lensing Simulation Pipeline

Description: We demonstrate how SLSim can be used to simulate strong lenses and lightcurves for lensed AGNs/SNe's. These simulations are useful for variety of applications including training lens finders, testing accuracy of science pipelines, etc.

• Simulating Populations of galaxy scale strong lenses such as lensed AGN and lensed SNe including hosts.
• Simulation of realistic LSST like lightcurves with SLSim.

Hi @timedilatesme ! I'll also open a sprint for the integration of AMOEBA into SLSim. I was wondering how the light curve simulation for lensed AGN is different from what we worked on during the sprint week (notebook here)? These incorporate the AGILE color relations and have hosts at z>4 by padding the spectra, but I'm wondering if the goal is produce this with the updated color relation in SLSim?

Yes, that sounds good! In regards to the

1. Deflector refactoring: I think I should close the old OM10 draft PR and we can instead implement an option where we take in a generic catalog to produce a population. This was the motivation for creating a dataframe from a population of Lens objects (here).
2. The time-series notebook I have attached above can be cleaned up to remove some population validation plots, and it produces multi-band time-series postage stamps of lensed AGN. It uses color relations from AGILE, but this was recently updated in SLSim. So we can start with this notebook, and develop it in a new branch with all the recent SLSim updates too!

I joined zoom and merged the (big) deflector refactoring PR.
Plan:

• @nkhadka21 moves notebooks over to new repository separating it from the main code
• @huangxy256 @sibirrer are crash-testing SLSim and the notebooks

For the notebooks, the LensPop() class import will break and you have to replace slsim.Lenses.lens_pop to slsim.Lenses.LensPopulation.lens_pop
