Extension removed from Chrome and Firefox stores

The Chrome extension settings now say "This extension violates the Web Store policy" and the store page gives a 404.

I don't use Firefox, but that extension page gives a 404 as well.

Google and Mozilla must have changed their policies.

This is likely due to the usage of Manifest 2.0 instead of 3.0. See https://developer.chrome.com/blog/mv2-transition for more info.

Can't you update it to Manifest 3.0?

There are two key dates for the phase-out:

January 17, 2022: New Manifest V2 extensions will no longer be accepted by the Chrome Web Store. Developers may still push updates to existing Manifest V2 extensions, but no new Manifest V2 items may be submitted.

January 2023: The Chrome browser will no longer run Manifest V2 extensions. Developers may no longer push updates to existing Manifest V2 extensions.

I'd be surprised if that would be the reason, the uploader likely got an email with more info
