In the future the class Aves could have its own icon to better represent this charismatic group

I understand the desire, but it will just cause problems.
We have been there before and its causing troubles with dinosaurs and reptiles. It is also against the idea of having only large groups in the vocabulary.

I'm reopening this issue given a current publisher feedback regarding the icons, is useful to have the users perspective to evaluate and polish how the Icon system works.

1. They saw the fish Icon and they can understand that represent a Chordate but still find it odd.

On "the idea of having only large groups" we do see insect group icons which are at the order level. The purpose of adding the icons refers back to the user, so it's not only about large groups but also about groups that are relevant for research. Birds is clearly one of those: specific laws are made for them, and they can be clearly identified by a single class.

2. The publishers found the eukaryota icon confusing, as it depicts a unicellular organism and the dataset has no unicellular organisms. They mentioned that in such a case they would rather not have icons.
